Popularity Contest?

Someone on Twitter remarked that they didn’t understand why we didn’t pick an occultist who is more “public friendly.” Here, as promised, is our answer.

Poison Pill

In a thought-provoking post about our campaign, Agitprop asked, “can a message be promulgated through a write-in campaign for a dead guy?” He points out the risk of such efforts: Continue reading

Coming Out Day

This is late for coming out day, but we figure it’s never a bad time to promote sexual freedom. Here is a lovely quote from ol’ AC:

Barbara Bush and Aleister Crowley

Barbara Bush is not Aleister Crowley's daughter, but she knows how to banish!

Barbara Bush is not Aleister Crowleys daughter, but she knows how to banish!

Barbara Bush is NOT Aleister Crowley’s daughter. Shocker, right? As a matter of fact, there is NO evidence that Aleister Crowley ever met Bush’s mother, Pauline Pierce, at all, despite the claims in the hoax). Sadly, Snopes has not yet made time to discredit this ridiculous claim; in the meantime, AC2012 must take up the task.

How will you vote?

Aleister Crowley reflects extensively on voting in Magick Without Tears, Chapter 75. In it, he concludes:

“So, whichever way you vote, you are asking for trouble, or would do, if the vote had any meaning.  The result of any election, or for the matter of that any revolution, is an almost wholly insignificant component of those stupendous and inscrutable Magical Forces which determine the destinies of the planet.”

Align yourself with the dominant Magical Force of this Aeon: support AC in 2012!

Don’t vote AC in 2012…

… unless it be your will!

Please spread the idea anyway! Whomever you think you might or might not end up voting for, tell your friends you’re writing in Crowley with yourself as VP. Ironically even, before explaining who you are really voting for.

For the actual purposes of this campaign it doesn’t really matter who you vote for in the end, if it causes conversations about Thelema to take place, does it? 1% of the vote may be a goal for some of us, but the work is its own reward.

“Search yourselves cunningly, I pray you, analysing your inmost thoughts. And first you shall discard all those gross obvious hindrances to your Will: idleness, foolish friendships, waste employments or enjoyments, I will not enumerate the conspirators against the welfare of your State.”

No Commitment

Some of our friends have pointed out that while they enjoy the idea behind this site, they are not prepared to commit to voting for Crowley, especially so early in the game. We want to assure you, that is perfectly alright! You can support our cause however you see fit, and we encourage you to vote according to your conscience when the time comes. We don’t expect you to commit at any point, ever. Please help us spread the word anyway!

Even if you don’t live in the U.S., that is no reason not to support our cause and promote this campaign. The campaign is truly only a vehicle for the message it carries.

At the very least, the campaign is a great conversation starter. Bring it up at the next party you attend! By doing so, you will help to spread Crowley’s fundamental message of freedom, and his declaration of the ultimate sovereignty of every individual.

“… except ye be free to act, ye cannot act.”

Questions from our fans

We’ve been asked a couple of great questions by our fans:

1. Do you really want this guy as President of the United States?

Some of Crowley’s political ideas may seem strange, ludicrous, or unconscionable to you. We maintain that all Crowley’s ideas are worthy of consideration and discussion, and we are all free to come to our own conclusions and disagree with him on any subject of course. There are a couple things we’d like to encourage all our readers to keep in mind:
